Rooted in Tradition, Rising with Purpose: Advancing Conservative Leadership in Clarendon County
Welcome to the official website of the Clarendon County Republican Party (CCGOP), where tradition meets transformation. Rooted in a county with deep historical significance, the CCGOP has evolved into a dynamic force for conservative values and civic engagement.

For much of the 20th century, Clarendon County remained firmly in Democratic control. However, political tides began to shift in the 21st century, culminating in a major breakthrough in 2020 when Republican candidates began winning. This momentum surged in 2022 with the election of Representative Fawn Pedalino to the South Carolina House—marking the first time a Republican was elected to represent District 64, a historic flip that helped turn Clarendon County red and inspired a new era of conservative leadership. Her campaign emphasized transparency and accountability, resonating with voters seeking change.

The CCGOP's growth and resilience are exemplified by dedicated individuals like June Brailsford, who had served as the party's secretary/treasurer for decades. Her unwavering commitment has been instrumental in the party's expansion and community outreach.

In 2025, Moye Graham, who had served as chairman of the Clarendon County Republican Party for the past two decades, decided to step aside, marking the end of an era. Graham officially joined the Republican Party in 1976 and held various leadership roles, including serving as a delegate to the Republican National Convention six times and as a member of the South Carolina Electoral College. His dedication was honored with multiple awards, including the 2013 SCGOP Chairman Katon Dawson Award and the 2025 CCGOP Windy Windham Award.

Succeeding Graham, Jose Calvo was elected as the new chairman of the Clarendon County Republican Party in 2025. Calvo, the son of Cuban immigrants who fled communism in the 1960s, brings a fresh perspective and renewed energy to the party. With a focus on expanding outreach and strengthening the party's presence in the community, Calvo aims to build upon the solid foundation laid by his predecessors.

Today, the Clarendon County Republican Party is more than a political organization; it's a community hub for those who champion limited government, individual liberties, and economic freedom. Through events, candidate support, and voter education, we strive to empower citizens and uphold the values that make Clarendon County exceptional.
